First In Math

A huge shout out to the top five sticker earners to date in First In Math. They are Kenton, Ciara, Jack G., Cole and Lucas. Great job kids. I am able to get on everyday to see who the top sticker earner is  and review a  classroom summary. I need you to help your child  master the math skills I am teaching at school and the only way to do that is by practicing those math skills. First In Math is an outstanding website that can be used to help your child practice and master the math skills we are working on in school. Stay in the K-2 world which focuses on Numbers and Operations and Geometry with shapes and patterns. These skills are presented in a game format so they are engaging to the student. There are levels of skill sets. If your child masters a skill set have them move on.  Each student  in kindergarten should work on math skills daily and just a few minutes on First In Math will help them do that. Please contact me if you are have misplaced your child's username and password. Some other ideas to work on math skills at home are counting and sorting, looking for shapes around the house, playing card games ( I just taught the kids the card game Compare but it is the card game War without the Jack, Queen or King) talking about number that are greater than and less than, measuring to compare longer than and shorter than, making sets and comparing which has more or fewer, etc. The underlined words are math terms that we taught and  your child needs to understand and apply while doing math so hearing you use these terms at home would be very beneficial to your child's understanding.
