Holy Week

This is always my favorite week to teach. We had a time line that we studied beginning with Palm Sunday. Everyday we learned about what happened to Jesus on that particular day of Holy Week. Thursday we went to the church and watched our second grade students reenact Holy Thursday and yesterday our eighth graders did the living stations. We did resurrection eggs where we learned more about Holy Week through the symbols hidden in the eggs. With our book buddies we watched about Holy Week. Your child will be brining home their Lenten symbols bag on Tuesday along with an sheet explaining all of the symbols. I wold like you to go through the bag with our child and ask them what the symbols are. We used books about Holy Week during guided reading as well. This books were sent home along with a coloring timeline booklet. Those books do not need to be returned but they are appropriate for reading at home and using for their reading logs.

Daily 5

During guided reading we read about the country of Ireland and learned some Irish folktales about leprechauns. Ask your child what they learned today during guided reading.

Math

Today we did St. Patricks's day math centers. We have been working on addition and today we did subtraction. They loved it!

Fourth quarter

Today is the first day of the fourth quarter. There are only 52 days in this quarter. We have a lot of learning and growing to do before the end of the school year. I am very excited to speak with you at conferences about what you can do to help your child reach their potential.
